The clock seems to have quickened its pace. I remember as a young girl, how time seemed to stand still. I could hardly wait for summer vacation, but by the middle of summer, I was missing my friends. . .not the homework, mind you.
The last two years have been about changes. . .BIG changes. Not only did I move to California in August of 2012, but I returned to work at the beginning of last summer. . .that was 7 months ago! Going back to work was an easy decision, but more of an adjustment than I had been prepared for. My "perfect" life was disrupted. Those first few months were difficult for many reasons, but for the most part, I settled into the long hours of tackling what was in front of me - with the help of a daily white chocolate latte in the morning prepared by one of our own baristas, and a bag of cookies in the afternoon.
With the change in routine, my trips to the gym became less and less, and my weight climbed 25 lbs. Even biking on the weekends, did not take away my urge to eat chocolate chip cookies. . .or anything else sweet, for that matter. This reminds me of a cartoon I once had hanging on my wall at work many years ago - DESSERTS is STRESSED spelled backwards! Who knew?!
My New Year's resolution, of sorts, is to reclaim my work/life balance, and refocus my attention on eating healthier.
After all, 3 months ago I turned 55, and I'm not getting any younger!
Putting it in writing is the first step. . .identifying the situation (for my fellow S.T.A.R Method followers. . .Situation, Task, Action, Results). Now, to focus on the tasks and actions to obtain the results. There's no time like the present. . . Start writing!
