Garden Pea Salad

When the temperatures start to heat up outside, this chilled salad is a great alternative to a hot side dish . . . it is light and refreshing!


Ingredients ~
1 pkg frozen petite garden peas
1/2 pkg real bacon pieces
3/4 cup mayonnaise (or 1/2 cup mayo and 1/4 cup sour cream or yogurt)
1/2 sweet onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon dill weed
1 tablespoon ground pepper
Pinch of garlic powder
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Directions ~
Place package of frozen peas under cool running water to thaw
Pour peas into a large glass mixing bowl, and set aside
In a measuring cup, mix mayo, dill, ground pepper, and garlic powder until well blended
Add mayo mixture, bacon pieces, and chopped onion to bowl of peas, and stir
Transfer salad into a serving dish
Sprinkle with shredded cheese
Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve
