Bubbly Baked Beans

A family favorite that goes great with hamburgers and hotdogs is also delicious with honey baked ham (or my uncle's smoked turkey breast).  This recipe is one that my mom passed down when I was learning to cook, and needed a potluck dish to take to a barbecue.  The type of beans has been updated from the original pork and beans, but the taste has stood the test of time.   Hope you enjoy!

Ingredients ~
2 cans vegetarian baked beans
1 large sweet onion, chopped
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon deli mustard
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
4 slices of bacon (or 1/4 cup real bacon pieces)

Directions ~
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a 9x13 glass baking dish, add baked beans
Stir in brown sugar, ketchup, mustard and worcestershire sauce
Add chopped onion
Mix well
Add bacon on top
Loosely cover with foil
Bake for 1 hour. . .and serve hot!

Note:  If transporting, carefully cover with lid, and place into carrier.  This will keep the beans from spilling or drying out.
